The GISELA Project is a consortium of 19 institutions from 15 countries: 4 from Europe and 11 from Latin America.  Its objective is to transfer the Grid infrastructure developed during the projects EELA and EELA2, to the Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks -RedCLARA-   for the purposes of  scientific research.

The infrastructure of EELA2 is comprised of 1470 cores and more than 60 terabytes of storage distributed among these 19 institutions and connected through the advanced networks of CLARA,  where it is possible to run applications for e-science that require large amounts of processing time and data storage.

The GISELA Project started on September 2010 and its objective of consolidating the Grid e-infrastructure in Europe and Latin America is expected to be reached by 2012.
